MEDALS AWARDED AT COFFEE4VETS – Rep. Mike Garcia, a Navy fighter pilot veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, pins medals on Palmdale’s Veteran Of The Year, Kevin Sanders, who served USMC Sgt. On numerous expeditionary deployments. Garcia, helped by Veterans Constituent Services Assistant Christine Ward, secured the medals and service ribbons that were authorized several decades earlier but never formally awarded. Tuesday at Coffee4Vets every Tuesday 7 a.m. where veterans are served with discount and the coffee is free. Chief Ian Eishen is being reassign to DC working with the Strategic Studies Group. We wish him and his family well in their new endeavors. Taking his place as Chief at Edwards AFB is Josh Matias & spouse Vanessa. The newest leader had a big welcome celebration and we look forward to working with Chief Matias in getting C4V next Breakfast and Tour on base as soon as its back up and fully operational for visitors. Funeral Expense Relief from FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management AgencyUnder the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, FEMA will provide financial assistance for COVID-19 related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020. Who is Eligible? To be eligible for funeral assistance, you must meet these conditions. 1. The death must have occurred in the United States, including the U.S. territories, and the district of Columbia. (Washington D.C.) 2. The death certificate must indicate the death was attributed to COVID-19. 3. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen national, or qualified alien who incurred funeral expenses after January 20, 2020. 4. There is no requirement for the deceased person to have been a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien. For more information and to apply please visit FEMA.gov

2020 Field of Healing and Honor
About 200 people who were feeling it turned out – outdoors, masked (mostly) and distanced, generally and considerately of others, to opening of 2,020 American Flags at Pelona Vista Park in Palmdale on Sunday. The 2,020 flags honor troops, veterans, first responders, healthcare heroes. The Palmdale Auto Mall Association provided key sponsors support. Amazon pitched in for flags for AV Fallen, for AV ‘76 – Our Fallen from Vietnam War. People who bought flags through City of Palmdale and Colonial Flag Foundation for $30 honored their family’s heroes. Sales benefit local Veterans Organizations, American Legion Post 348, Palmdale; VFW Post 3000; Vets4veterans, Point Man Antelope Valley and Coffee4Vets. Presentation runs 24/7 through November 11 Veterans Day. Ceremonies at Pelona Vista Park at 11a.m. On Veterans Day.
