Coffee4VETS Morning Breakfast – December 6, 2022

PEARL HARBOR REMEMBERED – At Coffee4Vets on Tuesday, preparing to remember Dec. 7 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor that plunged the United States into World War II. Navy veteran Al Hoffman of Boeing Corp. reminded Army vet Juan Blanco, President of Coffee4Vets, that Saturday is the Army-Navy game. Coffee4Vets every Tuesday 7 am at Crazy Otto’s restaurant on Avenue I where coffee is free and breakfast discounted for veterans and their guests. A shout out to Coffee4Vets many times an honored guest Lou Moore, veteran of World War II who recently turned 100. RIP Louis Moore You are already missed. Click on the images to view gallery.

AV Wall 2022

AV Wall is on the move from its storage unit to Palmdale Amphitheater. Opening day, Wed, Nov 9th, starting at 5 p.m. on display from Nov 9th-13th- 24 Hours/Day. Veterans Day Ceremony, Friday, Nov 11, 11 a.m. Candlelight Ceremony, Sat, Nov 12, 8 p.m. Taps nightly at 9 p.m. Most walls keep people out, this wall brings people together.

TWO BELLS FOR WWII GREATEST GENERATION VET

TWO BELLS FOR WWII GREATEST GENERATION VET – Services for Navy vet Arthur Nelson Ray. Art Ray sailed with USS Quincy heavy cruiser part of D-Day armada, carried President FDR on way to Yalta Conference to set postwar peace. Art was in Pacific for final campaign of WWII and witnessed Final Surrender signing by Gen. Douglas MacArthur and representatives of Japan in Tokyo Bay. Folded flag was presented by Navy vet and Chaplain Fred Villa of VFW Post 3000 Quartz Hill to Art’s wife of 41 years, Debbie Ray. VFW Post 3000 Honor Guard and Patriot Guard Riders led by Jim Jacobs provided veterans military honors for Art, a regular at Coffee4Vets. Art was 96, a devout Christian, and followed his own advice to “Live Life Well.”Villa provided Two Bells for absent shipmates. Click on the images to view gallery.
