Michael Bertell who staged out of Fire Base Bastogne as a draftee 11 Bravo infantry soldier in Vietnam was awarded Air Assault Wings at Ft. Campbell Ky. Today during 101st Airborne Division’s Eagle Week. Honor and Country Mike. ABU Wings we’re awarded by active duty Screaming Eagles to combat veterans who earned Air Medal in combat operations. Mike is President of Point Man AV and Antelope Valley Mobile Vietnam Memorial- the “AV Wall.” Mike has dedicated much of his active life to supporting veterans. MEDALS AWARDED AT COFFEE4VETS – Rep. Mike Garcia, a Navy fighter pilot veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, pins medals on Palmdale’s Veteran Of The Year, Kevin Sanders, who served USMC Sgt. GREATEST GENERATION SALUTE – Louis Moore

GREATEST GENERATION SALUTE – Louis Moore is a 98-year-old WWII veteran who just authored his first book, Eternal Love, a memoir of war, peace, homecoming and a love that lasted a lifetime. Eternal Love is Lou’s homage to his wife of 74 years, Nellie Hatsumi Mayeda Moore. Rated best selling Japanese-American biography on Amazon. Sunday, American Legion Post 311 in Lancaster joined by American Legion Riders and local nonprofit Bombshell Betty Calendar for Charity joined forces to host Lou Moore’s author debut. More support poured in from Coffee4Vets, Vets4veterans, and Blue Star Mothers. Lou’s book career was jump started by Broken Bit Steakhouse owner Michael Burroughs and Creative Center of America’s Robin Blakely, with area educator Stacey Alvey assisting with editor support and talent. Many people helped make Sunday a success for WWII Veteran Lou Moore, who always observes “Time is of the essence.” Of 16 million Americans who served in WWII, 325,000 are with us today.
