VET Talk

Vet Talk is the brainchild of Juan Blanco, Coffee4VETS’ founder and president. Juan started Vet Talk during the pandemic as a way to help veterans work through the difficulties of being isolated, sheltering at home, and social distancing. Vet Talk became crucial in keeping the veteran community connected.

In continuing with the same spirit of keeping the veteran community connected. Vet Talk is being relaunched. The series will feature 1 monthly question answered by our Veteran community. The monthly question will cover a broad scope of topics, ranging from their lives before, during, and after service.

This month’s Vet Talk is a holiday special featuring 3 questions instead of our usual 1. We hope you enjoy the extra content.

A special Thank You to CMSGT Josh Skakloken from Edwards Air Force Base for his service and taking the time to answer our questions.

President's Message

Welcome to the Coffee4VETS Newsletter.

Firstly, to recap last month’s activities.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving Dinner

On November 27, Coffee4VETS had the privilege to sponsor a meal for our veterans at our Santa Clarita Coffee4VETS Breakfast, while Jin Hur kindly gave away pumpkin pies to help lift their spirits for the holiday. Through the generous donation from Spectrum Telecommunications, Coffee4VETS was also able to provide Thanksgiving Dinner for many of our veterans and family members in the Antelope Valley.

As many of us are aware, the recent government shutdown has taken a toll on the active-duty service members and their families, making it tough on them to get through the holidays. Under the leadership of our Board Secretary and Honorary Director of EAB 412th TW/PA Artherine Blanco, Coffee4VETS stepped in to help ease some of the difficulties our service members are going through. Coffee4VETS led a food drive and was able to distribute full Thanksgiving meals to the families at Edwards Air Force Base as a reminder that we are truly grateful for their service.

Similarly led by our Board Secretary, Artherine, Coffee4VETS has also launched a toy drive to support our service members and their families at Edwads Airforce Base. The tor drive is running until December 11th. As of writing this, we have collected nearly 2500 toys. Coffee4VETS would like to sincerely thank all the generous people who have donated so far. Thank You.

On Saturday, December 13th, Edwards Airforce Base will be hosting their Annual Children’s Holiday Christmas Party. Santa himself is expected to arrive in an F16 fighter jet and deliver toys to the children living on base. Coffee4VETS will also be in attendance where we will be giving away all the toys we have collected from our toy drive. We are excited to be able spread joy and cheer to the children on base.

This December, we will remember Pearl Harbor Day. A day when our nation entered WWII after the destruction of our Naval Base in an early morning raid. We will honor our still surviving veterans and offer our deepest gratitude for their service to our country.

With December upon us, we are speeding towards Christmas. Sadly, for many of us, there are those who are without family nearby to share the holiday with. It’s a time for each of us to be thoughtful, be mindful, to reach out, to those who are without family.

With that said, I want to wish those who celebrate, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa and a very Happy New Year. May 2026 bring happiness and joy in all you do.

Our Moto: “Honoring Our Veterans of Yesterday Who Secured Our Today.”

Our Purpose: Pride of Service
