VA TOWN HALL – Standing room only crowd packed Elks Lodge 1625 in Lancaster Thursday night to hear about the largest planned expansion of veterans healthcare services ever in the Antelope Valley. VA officials announced that the VA Outpatient Clinic will double in size from 10,000 square feet to 20,000 square feet, shifting from Avenue I East side to downtown Lancaster near Antelope Valley Medical Center. Services to be added include optometry, dental services, a women’s clinic and improved mental health services. “We have heard you,” Rob Merchant, CEO of VA’s Greater Los Healthcare System. “You made your needs known and we heard you.” The new clinic to be fully run by VA staff is scheduled to open in summer 2025. Out on Rancho Vista Golf Course Fairway, Vets 4 Veterans Annual Golf Tournament thé outfit’s President Gerry Rice, Vietnam 101st Airborne, declares victory on another successful event. At Run For Joey 5 K Walk/Run Antelope Valley Blue Star Mothers Chapter 14 Dee Black and Jessica Mellick ran to raise funds in honor of Joey Lopez-Pratti and Darkhorse Lodge.
