Some may see the wreath as a circle of life and death because of its circular shape but today it was paced to honor all our fallen heroes. Here are the representatives of women from our veterans groups that carried the wreath, Megan Hilzendeger for Vets4Veterans, Michele Schottelkorb for Point Man, and Atherine Blanco for Coffee4VETS, Inc. and Spunky Sparks for Antelope Valley Veteran’s Community Action Coalition. Great job ladies. The wreath was design by Atherine Blanco with the support of Tina Pullum. Big thank to Stacia Nemeth for putting this team together. See you in 2023.
SUPERVISOR BARGER’S ANNUAL TRIBUTE TO VETERANS & MILITARY FAMILIES – Unexpected and completely appreciated recognition at Supervisor Kathryn Barger’ s 24th Annual Tribute, Arcadia County Park. Joined six veteran volunteers and supporters in military family community. A great way to open the Memorial Day Weekend enroute to Normandy for 78th D-Day Remembrance. Good company and gathering shared with my beloved Julia Claire, plus Army vet brother Robert Alvarez, and old friend and colleague Charles F. Bostwick. An honor to be appointed to Los Angeles County Veterans Advisory Commission for Supervisor County District 5. My thanks to Supervisor Barger for all her support for veterans services in 5th Supervisorial District for a meaningful Memorial Day and all our Brothers and Sisters with us in memory. In recognition of #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, #TeamWilk is pleased to spotlight Krishna America Flores, US Marine Corps Veteran & Veteran Outreach Program Specialist for the Antelope Valley Veteran Center. In 2005 Krishna was 1 of 2 women in her battalion to volunteer to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She struggled significantly with PTSD after returning home. But through the support of the VA, she was able to face her challenges head on & obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Promotion & her graduate degree in Health Administration. Today she helps connect combat veterans & veterans who have experienced military sexual to counseling, healthcare & community resources. Thank you Krishna, for your service to our nation & for your ongoing service to our military men & women!
