
Farewell ceremonies for Navy veteran and community leader Eli Colvin began today at his congregation Beth Knesset Bamidbar and proceeded to the section of Joshua Memorial Park reserved for those who served in our nation’s armed forces.
Colvin’s beloved wife of more than 25 years Ivy Lee Berr gave moving testimony to how happy Eli was in service to his congregation, his community and his country.
Prayers of mourning were performed.
Dozens of veterans of all branches and organizations turned out and joined his friends, family and faith community in bidding farewell to a man who lived with purpose and helped so many people.
Navy veteran Laura Anners Smith performed the Navy’s traditional salute to absent shipmates.
Folded flag ceremony was performed by active service Navy.
Rifle salute and Taps was rendered by VFW Post Honor Guard, and convoy escort to cemetery was done by Patriot Guard Riders and American Legion Riders Post 311 captained by Vietnam veteran Phillip Waln.
